A stressed tree in Redlands

The Redlands Sustainability Network, along with IERCD (Inland Empire Resource Conservation District) is putting on a forum – Tree Care During Drought – on Sat. Nov 12th, from 1-3 pm at the United Church of Christ in Redlands.

The event will provide residents tips on taking care of their trees through proper watering. Dave Roger, an urban forester in Claremont will share info about their city’s program, which received a 2016 Helen Putnam Award for identifying and improving the health of  approximately 1600 drought stressed trees  Claremont is a Tree City like Redlands. In addition, a City of Redlands representative will also talk about the situation and efforts in Redlands.

There will be a q/a period and a free raffle for rain barrels, and soaker hose kits. Educational information on proper pruning and other tree care tips, and yard signs saying “Save Our Trees, Water Them! will also be available for residents who are interested.
